Constitution
The Constitution of the W.O. Radio Club
Preamble: We, the undersigned, wishing to secure for ourselves the pleasures and benefits of an association of persons commonly interested in Amateur Radio, constitute ourselves the “W.O. Radio Club” of Skagit County, Washington (hereinafter referred to as the “Club”) and enact this constitution as our governing law.
Article I Purpose
The purpose of the Club shall be to honor the legacy of William C. Brown Jr (SK) by furthering the future of ham radio via the active encouragement of youth in Amateur Radio. The Club strives to introduce, recruit, educate and license youth to the hobby of Amateur Radio by making the hobby attractive and relevant to the current generation.
Article II Membership
Membership in the Club shall be open to any FCC licensed amateur radio operators interested in promoting the purpose stated in Article I. Non licensed members can be approved as associate members.
Article III Officers
Section. 1. Offices The officers of this club shall be President, VicePresident of Technical Design and Webmaster, Vice President of Youth Public Relations and Vice President of Hospitality.
Section. 2. Election The officers of this club shall be elected for a term of one year by ballot of the members present, provided there be a quorum, at the annual election meeting.
Section. 3. Term limits Terms are one year, however, there shall be no term limits .
Section. 4. Vacancies Vacancies occurring between elections must be filled by special elections at the first regular meeting following the withdrawal or resignation.
Section. 5. Eligibility In order to hold an office an individual must hold a valid Amateur Radio license. There is no minimum age requirement. Section. 6. Resignation Any officer may resign his/her position in writing at which time all records and assets of the club will be turned over to the President.
Article IV Duties of Officers
Section. 1. President The President shall preside at all meetings, and conduct them according to the rules adopted. He/she shall enforce due observance of this Constitution and ByLaws; decide all questions of order; sign all official documents adopted by the club unless an adult signature is required, and perform all other duties pertaining to the office of President.
Section. 2. Vice President of Technical Design and Webmaster The VicePresident of Technical Design and Webmaster shall assume all the duties of the President in his/her absence, oversee and advise and/or delegate technical projects and create/maintain a club website.
Section. 3. Vice President of Youth Public Relations The Vice President of Youth Public Relations shall oversee the active promotion of Amateur Radio, especially to youth, using all means relevant to today’s generation as appropriate.
Article IV Meetings
The ByLaws shall provide for regular and special meetings. At meetings, a minimum of twothirds of the membership shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.
Article V Dues
The club shall not collect dues or own any assets.
Article VII Club Call sign
The club intends to maintain a club callsign in good standing as provided by FCC rules Part 97.
The trustee shall:
(1.)Be a member of the club in good standing and elected to the office of Club Callsign Trustee.
(2.)Meet FCC requirements. Not had his/her Radio Amateur licensed revoked or sanctioned at any time.
Article IX Amendments
This constitution or ByLaws may be amended by a twothirds vote of the total membership. Proposals for amendments shall be submitted in writing at a regular meeting and shall be voted on at a regular meeting, provided all members have been notified of the intent to amend the constitution and/or ByLaws at said meeting.
